The Siemens Teacher Scholarship initiative was launched in March 2005 in partnership with the Thurgood Marshall Scholarship Fund and the United Negro College Fund, to encourage minority students to consider careers teaching math and science.
Over a five year period, the Siemens Foundation will provide $1 million in scholarships for undergraduate and graduate students majoring in education, and enrolled at the historically black colleges and universities that are members of the two organizations. This program marks the first time the Thurgood Marshall Scholarship Fund and the UNCF have collaborated in an effort to target students at both private and public historically black colleges and universities.
The funds will be administered by the Thurgood Marshall Scholarship Fund and the UNCF - which will be awarded based on academic merit and financial need.
